How To Play No-Limit TEXAS HOLD'EM

Blinds

  • A dealer button is used and moves to the left after each hand.
  • There will be two blinds (or “Forced Bets”), which will be the small and big blinds.
  • The player immediately to the left of the dealer button will be forced to put in the small blind, which is half of the bet.
  • The player two seats to the left of the dealer button will be forced to put in a big blind, which is the whole amount of the bet.
  • There is always an option to raise these bets by any player.

Pre-Flop & Betting

  • Each player is dealt two cards face down, followed by a round of betting
  • The dealer “Burns” one card that no one sees or uses
  • Then three cards are turned simultaneously (called the “Flop”), followed by another round of betting
  • Another card is “Burned” before the dealer turns one more card up (called the “Turn”)
  • Another round of betting occurs
  • The next card is “Burned“ and a final card is turned up (called the “River”)
  • One final round of betting occurs before each remaining player shows their hand

Best Hand Wins

  • There are 5 community cards on the board which all players can use as well as their 2 personal cards to form their best 5 card poker hand.
  • A player may even use all of the community cards and no personal cards to form a hand (“Play the Board”).
